Edisi RILEKS
RELAX Edition
  1. Sojourn at the Theatre of Dreams
FOR millions around the world, the words "Manchester U" have absolutely nothing to do with a university education. No, for football fans the "U" can only stand for United, as in Manchester United, the self-proclaimed "world's greatest football club" in the world.
    KRU-keADILan RILEKS : Manchester United
The Old Trafford Stadium, home of Manchester United FC, also a must for tourists in Manchester.
No one could have imagined that in 90 years, a football club that nearly went broke would today be the richest. Enter Old Trafford, which trumpets itself as the Theatre of Dreams - with no pretensions to the thespian arts!
  2. Get wind of this!
THE Kuala Lumpur Symphony Orchestra (KLSO) and the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) aside, how many other orchestras can you progress to once you're done with a school band? None, right? Well, the founders of the PJ Symphonic Youth Band (PJS) - former members of the Petaling Jaya Catholic High School brass band - discovered this in 1994.
  3. Celebratory river race
RIVERS have been the main mode of transportation in Sarawak for the longest time. Even today, what with longhouses widely spread all over the state, boats are still the way to go. So it's no wonder that rivers should also be a site for recreation where people can get together and have a party -- like the Baleh-Kapit '99 Bamboo Rafting competition I participated in recently. If there's one thing Sarawakians are famous for, besides their tribal tattoos, it's their all-night longhouse party sessions.
  4. World comes to Thai hills
I HAD travelled in northern Thailand before on a conducted tour. It did seem a tad contrived, the hilltribe ladies in unlikely ceremonial garb selling souvenirs to bus loads of tourists arriving from Chiangmai.
    KRU-keADILan RILEKS : Thai Hills
This Lisu village called Pan Baek lies in a verdant mountain setting.
Many hill tribe villages that a year or two ago were considered traditional have quickly modernised. It can come as quite a disappointment to drive some 20km up an unmade road to arrive at what is more like a town than a village, with everyone in T-shirts and jeans. Happily, traditional villages do still exist. You just have to hunt them down.
  5. Out of the blue
YOU all know blood is red so who are blue-blooded? Give ya a clue: in Britain, they were accused of being out of touch with the common folk until Lady Di came along. Yup, we are talking of royalty and Malaysia has her fair share of princes of and princesses too. Ever wonder what they are like?
  6. Heading for the stars
IN GREEK mythology, Hermes is the son of Zeus and messenger of the gods to mortals; he has winged sandals, a broad-rimmed hat and a staff around which serpents coil. For the well-heeled and fashion-conscious today, the name Hermes brings on heavenly images of a different kind: exquisitely-made scarves, bags, jewellery and apparel.
  7. Interpreting design in draping
WHEN the assignment on "the art of draping" was given out, no one had a clue what it was all about. Draping what? Curtains? Clothes? Or sarees? It turned out to be clothes, and boy, was I in for a learning experience. I had no idea that draping cloth over a mannequin is an art by itself, but according to designer Rene Oshiro, who has worked with fashion moguls like Calvin Klein and Georgio Sant Angelo, the ability to drape designs can make or break a fashion couturier's career.
  8. Crater-free Europa
ONE of the most unexpected findings of Nasa's probes, Voyagers 1 and 2, was the individuality of Jupiter's large moons. In fact, the size and density of impact craters can be used to estimate the age of a surface. On our Moon, for example, the dark "seas" or marea (singular mare, from the Latin for sea) are sparsely sprinkled with craters, indicating that they are features of more recent formation than the mountainous areas where the number of craters per unit area is far higher.
  9. Kinetic joy in 'The Matrix'
IMAGINE you're feeling a little like Alice, tumbling down the rabbit hole," someone says in the dazzling and disorienting The Matrix, and who has the strength to argue?
    KRU-keADILan RILEKS : 'The Matrix'
`Matrix' uses the `wire fighting' technique used in kungfu movies such as `Drunken Master' and `Fist Of Legend' to give its fight sequences that distinctive high-flying look.
  10. Spring came on a Sunday, in Malaysian Philhamornic Orchestra KL
Under the competent baton of associate conductor Kevin Field, who has been with the MPO since December, this latest performance certainly lived up to its well-deserved reputation as a world-class orchestra.
  11. Scanning the skies
Hi-tech equipment used by US scientists have spotted five times more asteroids and comets zipping across Earth's orbit than other instruments. EXTRAORDINARY new light-sensing ability linked to ultra-fast computing power is helping scientists search the sky for things that may be coming at us. The new system, being tested on a telescope in New Mexico, is already spotting five times more asteroids and comets than other instruments. And it's identifying some much-feared NEOs--near-Earth objects--that zip across Earth's orbit in space.
  12. Almost a nuclear war
IT WAS just past midnight as Stanislav Petrov settled into the commander's chair inside the secret bunker at Serpukhov-15, the installation where the Soviet Union monitored its early-warning satellites over the United States. Then the alarms went off. On the panel in front him was a red pulsating button. One word flashed: "Start."

MUST READ Edition - Opinions

Kita menghormati fakta, kita mencari-carikan keADILan & kebenaran, so khabar angin seperti kematian PM Atuk Sireh Dr. Mahazalim Mohammed tidak akan disiarkan di sini sehingga hari itu sampai.
  1. Fight with facts, defend with logic by Marina Mahathir.
Let's have our water today, never mind that we kill off one of nature's most beautiful gifts and we displace people with so much less than we have. Where exactly do we expect them to go? If they then become a burden to our communities, do we still blame them or do we have the grace to remember that we started this in the first place?
  2. Cerita KL Tadi.
Saya lari. Peniaga cina sibuk menutup kedai. Saya kata, "jangan takut, kami cuma lawan mereka(sambil menunjuk ke arah FRU.) Awak jangan risau." Seorang lagi menambah.
"Ini Malaysia, bukan Indonesia!"> sambil ketawa. Peniaga tadi turut ketawa dan tak jadi menutup kedai. Saya perasan ramai juga cina dan india yang terikut-ikut sama dengan kumpulan melayu yang main tarik-papan sorong papan ni. Yang lain sibuk mengendap-ngendap ke arah FRU. Mereka tidak takutkan orang demonstrasi tetapi mereka takutkan keganasan FRU. Bagi mereka FRU yang jahat.
  3. Wake-up Call To All Malaysians.
For 18 years, Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad dominated Malaysian politics and reaped credit for the nation's economic gains. Then came the Anwar Conspiracy. Now disillusioned Malaysians may be ready for change.
  4. UMNO - Unfettered Materialism New Oligarchy?
UMNO could very well stand for, depending on how far down you are or up in the pecking order; the United Moneyminded Networkers Organisation, or the Ultimate Money Netting Operation, or any of these, depending where you are from the outside looking in: either the Ultimate Mechanism for National Oppulence, Oppression or Opprobrium.. in that order given the nature of recent events affecting the party. Given all that is being said about it looking after the interests of its cronies, it could very well be nothing more than a collective Union of Magnates, Nepotists and Opportunists.
  5. THE FEAR OF CHANGE
What Is To Be Fear Of In Order To Secure A Better Future ?
by Chandra Muzaffar ( Vice Persident of keADILan, President of JUST, sacked from UM for supporting Refoemasi. )
  6. Rakyat Malaysia, Ketahuilah Hak Anda by Legal Aids Dept.,KRU.
Perdana Menteri kata kita negara demokratik, boleh tak kita mengadakan tunjuk perasaan atau demonstrasi secara aman damai ? Adakah pihak Polis berhak tangkap kita semasa tunjuk perasaan ? Adakah kebebasan kita rakyat Malaysia terjamin ? Mengapakah Akta Keselamatan Dalam Negeri ( Internal Security Act, I.S.A. ) perlu dimansuhkan segera ?
  7. PKN Sumbang Positif ( adopted from Majalah Detik )

    KIM GOOI
more people may have visited the home of Mahathir on
